Heidi Steltzer, PhD

Dr. Heidi Steltzer is a scientist-mystic who has studied High Mountains and the Arctic for over thirty years. She served as a lead author on the High Mountain chapter of the 2019 IPCC Special Report on the Oceans and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate and as a professor of Biology and Environment and Sustainability at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, for 15 years. In 2023, Heidi began a Master of Divinity at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver which she will complete in May 2027. In 2022, Heidi purchased four acres of land and five buildings on Mc Elmo Creek near Cortez, Colorado, where she founded the Center for Earth Theology. The Center is a library, a gathering space, and a place for rural residencies lasting from one week to 2 months. It is a place to know ourselves, one another, and All that is by knowing Earth.
