Original paintings by contemporary western artists adorn the walls of the gallery, silently adding depth and beauty to the occasion. One of the myriad outdoor adventure opportunities available free to residents and visitors to southern Utah is found in birdwatching at Jackson Flat Reservoir in Kanab. That’s why each year’s Amazing Earthfest includes a walk along the Sherry Belle Trail guided by experienced birders to spot and observe as many of the more than sixty species of beautiful birds that have been identified here including stilts, avocets, herons, swallows, pelicans, gulls, blackbirds, cormorants, geese, ducks and warblers. If you are inspired to join millions of others across the US and Canada in celebrating World Migratory Bird Day, don’t miss this event scheduled for Saturday, May 10, from 7:30 AM until 9:00 AM. The group will meet at the Jackson Flat Boat Launch Parking area off Kaneplex Drive in Kanab.

According to the Audubon Society, bird populations are shrinking at an alarming rate. “Birds are telling us—in their behavior, in their dwindling numbers, in their silence—that we must take action now, and that we must take action where birds need us most, from the Arctic to Chile and everywhere in between. It’s time to rise to the occasion”. You can register for the event titled, “Migratory Bird Day”, by visiting https://www.amazingearthfest.org/. While attending, you’ll join people throughout North America in the spirit of appreciating and caring for these lovely denizens of our natural world.
