Date: May 10, 2026

Time: 9:00 AM Utah Time - 12:00 PM Utah Time

This guided hike led by a BLM paleontologist and a BLM botanist starts with an easy walk to a set of early Jurassic dinosaur tracks located off of Bunting Trail. Participants are welcome to enjoy the easy part, and then skip the strenuous part of this hike. Please know and respect your ability. A strenuous ascent to the top of the mesa will follow to visit an additional pair of dinosaur tracks, see great views, and a take a short snack break.

On the way to both track locations, we will discuss local plants, geology and paleontology. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a long-sleeved shirt. Bring at least 3 liters of water and your favorite snacks. Hiking poles are recommended for the steep descent from the mesa top.

Location: Meet at 8:30 am at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Visitor Center, 745 East Hwy. 89, just east of the Exxon station in Kanab. Carpool to the trailhead.
