Amazing Earthfest

Gather online to launch the 14th Annual Amazing Earthfest (revised for the Covid 19 pandemic) with music, reflection, thought-provoking commentary and inspirational poetry to kick off our 2020 series of self-directed adventures, documentary films, discovery and learning opportunities. Forge connections by exploring the world of spirit, ethics, ideas and personal resilience with an online community of Public Land enthusiasts. Opening music by the American West Symphony and Chorus directed by Joel Rosenberg with closing interlude by the innovative Navajo Pianist Connor Chee.

Imaginative and celebratory original poetry from Kanab, Utah’s Willow Wind Poets awaken feelings of wonder and concern for the natural world. Focus and connect with each other, the land, and all life forms with whom we share our Earth-home.

Keynote speaker for the 2020 Amazing Earthfest is the award-winning filmmaker Stephen Most. In his remarks for this year’s Invocation to Sustainability, Stephen will speak about collaborative conservation: its history, key principles, and success in advancing sustainability. Examples will include Aldo Leopold’s work on soil conservation in the Midwest, a forest health in the Sierra Nevada, and the return of cultural fire as a form of world renewal in the Klamath Basin. Stephen’s latest documentary titled, Wilder than Wild, co-produced by Kevin White, will be screened online for Amazing Earthfest on Saturday, August 22 at 6:00 PM MDT. After the film, Stephen and Kevin will join the audience for an online conversation about our changing climate beginning at 7:15 PM MDT on Zoom

An earlier documentary by Stephen Most titled, River of Renewal, about resource conflicts in the Klamath River Basin is also featured at this year’s Earthfest, screening virtually on Saturday, August 8 at 6:00 PM MDT. Discussion and responses to questions led by Stephen afterward will begin on Zoom at 7:15 PM MDT. (Please register for the film in the Documentary Film descriptions to receive access links.)
