Guided by Utah State University Geoscience Professor Colter Davis, uncover the story behind Utah’s colorful Chinle formation while exploring an exceptionally vibrant outcrop of the multicolored mudstone. Famous for fossils and dinosaur bones, these rocks are a portal to the past, offering insights into a world that existed hundreds of millions of years ago. Bring a hat, snacks, water and wear good walking shoes.
Location: Meet at the Kane County Office of Tourism, 78 S. 100 East, Kanab. Carpool to the Old Paria Townsite, 30 miles east of Kanab.
