Description: This event combines an undulating but very scenic late afternoon hike of approximately 2 miles in sand through relict communities of old growth Ponderosa Pine in a wilderness study area near Kanab, with a catered picnic supper and an opportunity to explore the night sky from a superbly dark location. Amateur and professional astronomers will be your hosts for viewing the night sky following a pleasant hike and a tasty supper.
Supper menu: braised spiced chicken, wild rice, roasted mixed vegetables, homemade cookies and milk, coffee, tea and beverages. Tickets are $25 per person, to cover cost for the supper. Advance registration required. Limit 15 people.
Location: BLM Ponderosa Campground, Hancock Road. Gather at the Earthfest Information Table, Kane County Office of Tourism, 78 South 100 East, Kanab, at 1:00 PM to carpool. Allow 30 min. drive time from Kanab.
Donations are tax-deductible and will be used to fund the festival’s activities.
