SAVE THE STARS ABOVE
Presented By: Colorado Plateau Dark Sky Cooperative
Utah has some of the darkest night skies in the lower 48. National and State Parks, and Monuments in Utah such as Bryce, Capitol Reef, Cedar Breaks, Natural Bridges, Goblin Valley and others have received special designations as dark sky places. Learn how dark they are, why it matters and how you can help preserve the awesome nighttime experience of wonder over your home town. Explore human health and ecological consequences of light pollution and glare, the economic benefits and growth of astro-tourism, public safety and civic engagement to create sensible outdoor lighting ordinances that beautify your community. www.cpdarkskies.org/
After a one hour presentation, step outside for a constellation tour and a night sky photography lesson. Former Director of the Hansen Planetarium in Salt Lake City, Von Del Chamberlain of Kanab, will host a star party with campfire, creating a perfect setting for a fine astronomical evening! Bring layered clothing for a chilly desert night and a flashlight.
