Presented By: Canyon Dames Hiking Facebook Page

Date: Saturday, May 18, 2019
Time: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Meet at the Kane County Visitor Center, 78 South 100 East, Kanab. Carpool to the trailhead 2 miles north of Kanab on US 89 just off the west side of the highway across from Hog Canyon. Parking is very limited.

Description: (pronounced “Green-off”): Once parked, walk south on the route leading downhill to Kanab Creek for about 1/10 mile. Cross the steel bridge and continue south for another 1/4 mile. When the route splits in three directions, take the pathway on the right and continue in a westerly direction to the marked trail head.

Open to foot, horse, and canine use only, this 4-mile round trip is moderately challenging, with about two miles of uphill switchbacks. The reward is panoramic views of Hog Canyon, Bryce Canyon NP, and the North Kaibab Plateau.

Parts of “Trail Canyon” were homesteaded by the cowboy/ranchers Greenhalgh brothers in the 1930’s & 40’s. A local trails group coordinated the trail’s recent reconstruction. This new/old trail is sure to become a treasure. Bring plenty of water, snacks or a lunch; wear a hat, sunscreen and sturdy footwear.
