FIRST-PERSON PLACE-WRITING – GSENM 2016 Artist In Residence Writing Workshops Using the Personal to Illuminate a Landscape

- Arts and Culture
- GSENM Visitor Center, 745 East U.S. Hwy 89, Kanab, UT
GSENM 20th Anniversary Event!
So many of us feel a powerful connection to the places we love. How can we write about those places in ways that are informative, personal, and resonant? How can we ground our personal writing about places in research and observation? Or conversely, how can we inflect fact-driven writing with our own personal sense of place?
In this two-part workshop open to all ages and skill levels, join GSENM Artist in Residence Rebecca Worby to explore these questions through writing exercises, group discussion, and short readings from memoir to nature writing and beyond.
Between sessions, participants are encouraged to apply what they’ve learned to the creation of new work, which they will have the opportunity to share at the end of the second session, scheduled for Thursday, May 12, at 6:30 PM. Bring your finished works or works-in-progress, a sense of fellowship, and your preferred writing instruments: pen and notebook, laptop, etc.
