A CLOSE LOOK AT THE GREAT GALLERY
Date: Monday, May 14, 2018
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Location: GSENM Visitor Center, 745 East US. Hwy 89, Kanab.
Description: Native American rock art and ruins are recognized, respected and held sacred by today’s native peoples. Join former President of the Utah Rock Art Research Association, Richard Jenkinson, for a close-up look at the Great Gallery, located in western Canyonlands National Park. This set of unusually large pictographs is considered one of North America’s premier rock art sites. Carefully photographed in optimal light, this presentation breaks the imagery into groups to deliver a close look at what is actually there.
As it works to protect prehistoric rock art sites around the West, URARA offers opportunities in Utah to participate in preservation, site stewarding, documentation and monitoring.
