The Old Spanish Trail has been called the most arduous and difficult trail in the United States. With Native American historical roots, the trail was used by the adventurous and opportunists bringing textiles from Santa Fe to trade for mules and horses in Los Angeles beginning in the early 1800s. Spanning more than 2500 miles, parts of the trail were used by fur trappers and later by railroad and military surveyors.
Reconnect. Restore. Rewild. Imagine a world where nature is unbroken, and where humans co-exist in harmony with the land and its wild inhabitants. In 1991, Wildlands Network embarked on a very bold mission: to reconnect, restore, and rewild North America so that life in all its diversity can thrive. Our work has since catalyzed a dramatic shift in conservation, with parks and other protected areas serving as the building blocks for wildlands networks across the continent.

This museum was built to preserve treasures from the site, including pottery, baskets and arrowheads. The ancient people decorated many nearby cliff walls with unique rock art. Spend a few hours at the museum, tour the rock art sites and then camp at nearby Castle Rock Campground. http://utah.com/state-parks http://utah.com/fremont-indian-state-park

Quality, Value, Soul Serendipity. We were passing through Kanab on our way... somewhere else... but we had some history and old friends in southern Utah, so we paused to visit. We never left. Everything just sort of came together around us, and here we are. In any case, we arrived with a strong notion of what we wanted to do. We were passionate about the outdoors, we possessed an abiding love of books, and we…

There’s a reason we don’t have WiFi. Chill. Exhale. Sit. Listen.…
